Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County, Florida and the Plant City Chapter Habitat for Humanity working together as patners is founded on common ground belief that bridges theological differences.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational Christian ministry which is committed to assisting low-income families who qualify for partnership, and are willing to provide a down payment and sweat-equity, an interest free, quality affordable home. They do this by building homes together with families and volunteers; this is a hand up not a hand out. Welcomed are individuals, corporate and church groups of all denominations to join them in their mission.
The Plant City Chapter of Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County is made up of volunteers that all have an interest in improving and impacting their local community in a very positive way. Said one volunteer: “At first I hesitated to join Habitat because I have always been involved in children’s charities. But it only took a few seconds to realize there could be no greater impact on a child’s life than to be involved in helping a child and their family be able to get into a decent home that they can be proud of. It not only affects their self esteem, but every other aspect of their life.”
The current Plant City Chapter was formed in 2004. They have to their credit 5 completed homes in the Plant City Area for their partner families. The chapter currently has 4 lots to build on, Our goal is to build 2 plus houses per year.
We are scheduled to start clearing land for our next new home in August 2008, volunteers are desperately needed! Won't you join us and help make a huge difference in the lives of a deserving family?
